The core and screen conductors of typical guitar cable may produce a capacitance of around 30 picofarads per foot (or 100 picofarads per metre), so it follows that the longer the cable, the more capacitance you have hanging on the output of your guitar.

The most important thing is the reliability of the cable - how well it is made, how substantial the outer sleeve and the jack plugs are, and carefully designed to support the solder joints that connect the cable to the jack plugs at either end of the lead.
